Even if Serve works like most other static site generators, the fact that it comes with its own server makes a lot more useful than the other solutions.
Created to work using the local file and folder structure, Serve utilizes a simple routing system to tie in folders with URL paths.
A basic project prototyping tools is also included, allowing developers to put basic projects together via one simple command in the Ruby console.
The content and the site's structure can be stored via various template languages, from Textile, to Markdown, ERB, or HAML.
Basically Serve is just the "V" part from Ruby on Rails "MVC" approach, providing a powerful tool for fine-tuning website assembly and display in Ruby.
Serve comes with support for deploying from Git repositiories and also for hosting it on Heroku.
